Recently, a wonderful friend of mine actually seemed offended when I said he was a great Christian. Sadly, he has come to associate that word with people who are judgmental, rigid, uneducated and unable to think for themselves. When I explained that I simply observe him living his life in accord with Christ’s true teachings and following in Christ’s footsteps by questioning what is right and listening to his own heart for the answers, he felt much better. Who is more Christian – those who follow the rules set forth in the Bible because they’re “supposed to,” or those who look within for the highest Truth the way that Christ did?
