Daily Inspirational Quote – May 2, 2015

“Some people are hurting so bad you have to do more than preach a message to them. You have to be a message to them.”

I interpret this as meaning that sometimes when we are called upon to be there to support, comfort or encourage a friend in need, words aren’t enough. Although we mean well and can all verbalize the platitudes that we all use at these times, you know what, maybe all they need is to know is that we ourselves are conveying a message of comfort and hope just by being by their side when they most need to know we are there for them. Be prepared to be a message of hope when you need to be and, hopefully, when we are in need, they will be the message of hope for us.

Get It Out of the Way

At the beginning of each day, think of something you must do, that you really don’t want to do. Then, with a positive and powerful sense of control over your own life, go ahead and get that undesirable job done.

Do the difficult, disagreeable things first. You will make all the other things a whole lot more enjoyable.

Instead of procrastinating, and avoiding, and having something unpleasant constantly hanging over you, get it out of the way. Free yourself to live the rest of your day with the enjoyment and satisfaction of having it done.

Do the hard stuff first, and it will strengthen you, give you confidence and a very real sense of being firmly in control. Do the challenging jobs first, and enjoy the value that comes from working through the challenges.

Rather than dreading what you must do, get it done, and get it out of the way. Put your time and energy into making progress and not into making excuses.

Each day, you have the opportunity to do yourself a big favor. Get the difficult stu…

Kids Making A Mark On The World

Riley De Graff, a resourceful student from Sun Valley Elementary School in San Rafael, CA, effected positive change for the earth by asking a parent to help her recycle used markers in her school. By creating a petition through, the school collected over 90,000 signatures and mobilized a used color markers recycling campaign which is now supported by the Crayola company and Dixon Ticonderoga. Both companies formed new recycling initiatives where they take back used color markers and convert them into clean-burning fuel. Hurray for kid power!

“As you breathe in, cherish yourself. As you breathe out, cherish all beings.”

I can just picture this can’t you? Breathing in life-giving air to nourish our bodies and, just a tad more important, keeping us alive. Then breathing out and picturing with our mind’s eye our very breath of life being expelled and set free to enhance and nourish everyone and every living thing around us. A precious gift freely given from us to whoever needs it most. What a gift eh?

Use of Time

Your time is one of the most precious things you have, and no hour, no moment, no day can ever be replaced. Keep that in mind when choosing how to spend your time.

The way you use your time, now, in the next hour, in the next few days, determines the way your life unfolds. It is a great opportunity that keeps on presenting itself to you.

Over and over again, you have the chance to make wise and productive use of your time. You have the chance to exchange the fleeting moments for lasting value.

Every now and then, step back and look at what you’re doing. Remind yourself to make the most of the great opportunity you have in each moment.

Tomorrow can be markedly improved as a result of the way you use your time today. By using your time wisely, you can transform the richness of this moment into a richness that continues in your life for years to come.

You have just as much time today as the most accomplished person alive. Now is your time to make it count.

Daily Inspirational Quote – April 30, 2015

“I am the most powerful tool in my life and I will use me wisely.”

This is true for each and every one of us. Our minds and bodies are ours to use in order to get what we want from life. When you really think about it, how amazing are we? Our bodies and brains are capable of working together enabling us to live, work, play, interact, deduce, etc. etc. with few restrictions apart from the ones we place on ourselves. It behooves us to use the capabilities we have, both spiritually and physically, with as much wisdom as we can.

Purpose You Cannot Deny

The thing that will keep you focused is not a strategy or technique or condition. What will keep you focused, and disciplined, and committed, is a purpose you cannot deny.

If you’re serving a purpose that isn’t really your purpose, you’ll easily be distracted from it. Yet when you follow a purpose that lives at your very core, nothing can pull you away from it.

Focus is not about trying hard. Focus is about living true.

Great achievement demands great effort. A clear, authentic purpose is what will drive that effort, and make it feel like no effort at all.

Be honest with life, be honest with others and, most of all, be honest with yourself. It is an unwavering commitment to truth and openness that enables you to connect to the power of your purpose.

Live the purpose that lives at your heart. And live with richness in every moment.

Daily Inspirational Quote – April 29, 2015

“There is not ONE path. There is not even the RIGHT path. There is only YOUR path.”

This should be instilled in every human being from birth! A saying and tenet to live by don’t you think? If everybody truly, truly believed this with all their heart, perhaps the world would be a much happier, safer, harmonious place for us all. Unfortunately, for humanity, I don’t ever see this happening. However, if this message could be put “out there” more widely and spread as far as possible, I wonder how many lives it could change, perhaps for the better?

Beyond The Limitations

The world does not persecute you so much as you would think. Anything that holds you back is assisted in great part by your own imagination, or lack thereof.

Imagine for a while that the barriers are not there. Imagine what you could do if you stepped outside your current assumptions.

The more you focus on what holds you back, the more it holds you back. Imagine being free of the limitations and suddenly, in a very real way, you are.

The energy of your mind has great power. Apply that energy in a positive direction.

Visualize life beyond the limitations. You won’t erase those limitations, yet you can make them far less significant, and much less confining.

Seeing that something is possible, makes it possible for you. Imagine life beyond the limitations, and go do what you have imagined.

Daily Inspirational Quote – April 28, 2015

“I accept myself for who I am and what I believe. It is not my responsibility for you to accept me. That is your problem.”

It has taken a very long time but I believe I am now doing what I was meant to. However, initially, not everybody was as accepting about the path I have chosen as I had thought. All to do with a family member’s religious belief as opposed to my belief in spirituality. However, in the end, we agreed to disagree with one another and left it at that with no difference in the feelings we have for each other. I would never consider criticizing anyone’s religious beliefs or customs and would hope and expect the same courtesy be extended to mine.

Always a New Way

There’s always a new way to appreciate life. There’s always a new way to be helpful to others.

No matter how much you’ve seen or done, there are always new things to experience. No matter how much you’ve achieved, there are always new ways to create value.

There are new problems to be solved and new beauty to be enjoyed. There are new people to meet and new ways to enrich the relationships you already have.

There are new and more compelling ways to express what you’ve always known. There are new ways to give your love to those you’ve always loved.

There is never any reason to be bored or complacent or unmotivated. Every moment offers the possibility of living life in new and more satisfying ways.

There’s always a new way to make this a great day. In this moment, life begins again, so live it with the fresh, new enthusiasm it deserves.

4 Ways to Put the Om Back Into Your Home by Tisha Morris

(Article originally published in The Llewellyn Journal.)

Holistic living is becoming more mainstream as nutrition, preventive and alternative medicine, and conscious living are simply a way of life. Holistic implies being whole or taking into account the whole picture—our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being. As eastern practices meet western medicine, the “wholistic” pie is starting to take shape with the mind, body, and spirit being equally taken into account.

One healing modality that has been overlooked—and that is literally right under our nose—is our home. Our home is a reflection of ourselves, physically, mentally, and emotionally. And as we make changes to our home, we make changes to our selves and our lives. There is an energetic relationship with the mind, body, and home. It is no wonder that the ancient art of feng shui has been practiced for thousands of years.

Our home is second only to our body as our physical dwelling on Earth. It is so closely related to…

Make Your Home a Magical Tool by Tess Whitehurst

(Article originally published in The Llewellyn Journal.)

Whether you live in a dorm room, a mansion, a houseboat, a studio apartment, a trailer, or anything else, your home is a potent magical tool. Even small changes in your home can create powerful energetic shifts, setting in motion great waves of positive change on all levels and in all life areas.

How, you ask? Let me explain. Hermes Trismegistus gave us the famous magical maxim, “As above, so below.” One way to interpret this is that the realm of form is inextricably connected to the realm of spirit, and that each reflects, interacts with, and defines the other. Quantum science seems to agree, teaching that we dwell in a sea of energy and that everything is connected to everything else, whether it’s a thought, a butterfly, an atom, a flower, an emotion, or a brick wall.

And these intricately woven connections are constantly present, literally defining and creating reality in every situation and on every level of our consciousness, …

Daily Inspirational Quote – April 27, 2015

“I didn’t change. I just woke up!”

This very much resonates with me regarding my spiritual awakening and what it has led to since. Working, being a wife and a mum, friends and family got used to me in this role for a lot of years. When I began to work with spirit in, I believe, my true calling, they were very surprised at how much I had “changed” when all I felt was relief and contentment in actually being “me” at last, growing into myself if you like. Very much like an awakening and a very welcome one but something everybody else has had to get used to.

Activate Your Energy

Tell yourself, right now, that you’re going to live this day with a high level of positive energy. Remind yourself, right now, that you don’t have to let anything make you sluggish or hesitant.

Let the comments, dramas and situations come and go as they will. Through it all, offer your own enthusiastic energy to life.

This is a day to make real progress in a meaningful direction. This is a day to engage yourself with your best possibilities.

Though others may sit around nurturing their doubts and dreaming up excuses, you have much better things to do. You have the energy and the willingness to make good things happen.

It’s nice when you get encouragement and validation from others for what you’re doing, but not an absolute necessity. You can activate your energy and move forward even when there’s no one there to urge you on.

This very day offers all kinds of great rewards. Put your energy into living this day and earn yourself the best of those rewards.

The Blind Man & Armless Friend Who Planted Over 10,000 Trees

"Looking at the lush, green, tree-filled stretch of land north of the Yeli Village in China, it's hard to imagine that just 12 years ago, those plains were filled with nothing but rocks and weeds. This miraculous transformation is all thanks to the hard work and dedication of an elderly blind man named Jia Haixia and his friend Jia Wenqi, a double amputee with no arms. For more than 10 years, the duo have been planting thousands of trees in an effort to protect and preserve the natural ecology of the land surrounding their village."

Daily Inspirational Quote – April 26, 2015

“When you face difficult times, know that challenges are not sent to destroy you. They’re sent to promote, increase and strengthen you.”

Usually when trouble visits us it never just comes once, but two or three times, just to make sure we get the message that we’re having difficulties. One visit is bad enough, but more than that and we’re left wondering “Why me?” or “It’s not fair,” and generally hard done by. However, time passes, and somehow or other we get through usually just because we have to. Some time later may come the realization that what happened actually worked out for the best perhaps just by showing us how strong we are in coping, and instilling a new found confidence we didn’t have before that will help us in the future.

Why Finding Your Purpose Is Good For Your Brain

"Your purpose in life, your north star, your passion, your bliss, your inner voice, your wisdom, your calling. What do you call it?" asks Dr. Sarah McKay, a neuroscientist, writer and speaker, who has found one of her life's greatest passions in writing an informative brain health blog. In this article, Dr. McKay highlights some of the positive health and wellness benefits of living a purposeful life. While the exact biological basis of the association of purpose in life with brain health is unknown, the scientific findings make clear that there is such an association. This piece urges us to spend some time pondering over our life's purpose.
