“Be crumbled, so wildflowers will come up where you are. You’ve been stony for too many years. Try something different. Surrender.” - Rumi We spend so much time trying to “do” or achieve something, or trying to prevent certain things from happening. The auras of people who are highly stressed are very dense and tight, with the energy going in circles instead of flowing in and out. When we surrender, instead of running around in circles inside, our hearts open, which allows our energy to flow. Only when energy is flowing in and out can we truly experience and respond to anything, instead of reacting from conditioned patterns. Feel for any tightness inside, any resistance, and just surrender it. Let yourself be different today – more open, more relaxed, more vibrantly alive.

Powerful Acceptance

Life is as it is in this moment, and it’s powerful to be able to accept that. Yet just because you accept what is, here and now, doesn’t mean you must be resigned to letting it stay that way. Yes, you can accept even those things you don’t agree with or approve of. It is your acceptance of reality that positions you to change and to improve upon that reality. Accept the moment, and find great value in it. Accept the situation, whatever it may be, and enable yourself to move positively forward from it. It can be tempting to simply avoid or deny the truth. Eventually, though, you must accept and deal with the truth, and the sooner you choose to do so, the better. Visualization can be a powerful tool, yet merely pretending that something is true does not make it so. Visualize the way you desire for life to be, and accept that you must work to make it so. Accept and embrace the reality of what is. Then take it and make it the best it can be. — Ralph Marston

Beauty Feeds A Different Kind of Hunger

A fifth-generation Mormon and author of numerous books whose subjects span activism, family, and meditations on place, Terry Williams writes of women, relationships, faith, and environment, and how they are inextricably linked. In her own words, "I believe the first time I found my voice was when I crossed the line at the Nevada Test Site in 1988. It was one year after my mother died. It was one year before my grandmother would die, and I found myself the matriarch of my family at thirty. Nine women in my family have all had mastectomies, seven are dead -- you reach a point when you think, "What do I have to lose?" and you become fearless." Adds this woman who has protested fiercely against nuclear testing, "I am not married to sorrow. I just choose not to look away."

“If you make it plain you like people, it’s hard for them to resist liking you back.” - Lois McMaster Bujold When we discover that someone doesn’t like us, it doesn’t matter what we thought of that person previously; suddenly, we don’t like them either. Obviously, this is based on them not liking us! As the reverse is also true, when conflicts arise, one of the wisest things we can do is look for the good in the other person, for when we admire someone, that person starts to like and respect us more. It’s all ego, of course, but ego is endlessly at play in all relationships. If you want to live in harmony, swallow your pride the next time someone attacks you, and sincerely look for the good in them.

A Way to Be Thankful

When you find a way to be thankful for something, you find the value in it. When you find a way to be thankful, you find a way to benefit. That is especially true when you’re thankful for things that would not seem at first to be beneficial. The more you can be thankful for, the more real, meaningful value there will be in your life. Be thankful for the difficulties. Your gratitude will make them less difficult and much easier to bear. Be thankful for whatever you’ve just experienced. In that state of thankfulness you’ll find powerful lessons to be learned. Gratitude enables you to see anything in a whole new, empowering light. Be thankful, and you’ll understand how truly rich you already are, and how much more richness you can now create. Find a way to be thankful, and you’ll discover many new ways to move forward. Find a way to be thankful, and you’ll see that limitless abundance is yours to live. — Ralph Marston

Brene Brown On The Courage To Be Vulnerable

Do you remember the last time you felt completely vulnerable? It's a rather uncomfortable feeling that causes most people to rush through to a 'quick fix' -- desperate to avoid the discomforts of feeling exposed. We tend to view our vulnerability as a sign of weakness. But, what if the opposite were actually true? What if vulnerability was absolutely essential to wholehearted living? According to research professor, Brene Brown, vulnerability is not weakness. On the contrary it is "our most accurate measurement of courage." This interview shares more.

“Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid.” - Basil King There is great power in deciding what you will stand for and what you will not, and even in simply deciding how you’d like things to be. When we act or speak boldly, we flow a lot of energy, which like a vacuum summons even more energy from the universe. It sets everything moving with us, in the direction we want to go. Then subtle coincidence turns to amazing synchronicity, and magic gives birth to miracles.

Feel a Little Goodness

Feel a little of life’s goodness and let that goodness be magnified throughout your being. Feel a little goodness and make a lot more. There is goodness everywhere. Open yourself to it, expect to experience it in every situation, and you will. There are times when it is clear and obvious how truly good life is. Yet even when it is not so obvious, that goodness is most certainly there. Remind yourself how good life can be, and bring that goodness wherever you are. Share the goodness, and suddenly there is much more. Instead of assuming that life must be disappointing, give life a chance to be good. Give goodness a place to be in your life, and it will be. On any given day, whatever the circumstance, life is as good as you allow it to be. Feel a little goodness, then feel a little more, and make life the best it can be. — Ralph Marston

Because I'm Happy

It's a fun fact that the Oscar-nominated song from a movie about a bad guy (Despicable Me 2) actually turns out to be something positive. And not just positive but absolutely jivin'! Pharrell Williams' "Happy" is an anthem to sharing your light and letting your energy burst through your seams. And it's fast becoming a movement. Watch this video that defies you to stay still or glum for more than a moment!

Daily Inspirational Message for March 19, 2014

“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.” - Alan Cohen If you study successful people, you will notice that despite their surface differences, they all have one powerful trait in common: they work with change instead of resisting it. As the river of change flows endlessly through our lives, some will dig their feet in and end up drowning; others will be tossed to and fro, wherever the stream carries them; a few will find a way to swim with the current. They’ll invent all kinds of creative flotation devices, then navigate their way around obstacles and whoop and holler as they shoot over rapids. Change can be terrifying and unsettling, but it can also be exhilarating and powerful when we consciously harness its force and move with it, instead of against it.

Start Right Away

Careful and detailed planning is essential to any achievement, and yet the planning is not the achievement. To achieve any goal you must act on it, and the sooner you begin to act, the better. The first thing to do is to do something. Instead of speculating, or debating, or making excuses, or wondering, step forward and take action. You cannot learn what works until you actually do some work. Begin, learn, adjust, and continue acting with growing wisdom and experience until the goal is reached. Yes, you can benefit greatly from the experience of others. And the way to do that is to continue adding your own experience to it. If there’s something you intend to do, get started. If you don’t take the first step immediately, it’s not really an intention but merely an empty wish. You are fully capable and fully deserving of the great, rewarding experience of achievement. Start on it right away, right now, and bring that experience to life. — Ralph Marston

6 Habits of Highly Grateful People

Five Steps to Consciously Change the Energy in Your Home

“As humanity shifts into twenty-first century living, an expanding consciousness and awareness are leading many to examine their lives in order to define who they are on a personal as well as global level.  In these challenging economic times, people are reviewing the surroundings in which they live and focusing on their home as a retreat from the distractions and turmoil of the outside world. Now more than ever, the concept of home is required to provide a feeling of serenity and comfort.”

Rituals for the Three Days of the Spring Equinox

“Ancient schools of thought taught people how to observe the powerful events occurring in planetary changes, and how to connect them with the energy here on earth. We still have the ability to connect with nature in order to assist with our growth and development, and, to cultivate balance and growth. Here are some transforming activities you can engage in during the three-day period of the spring equinox.”

Restore, Rejuvenate and Transform During the Spring Equinox

“As Mother Nature works her magic, there are tremendous boosts of natural energy presented to us during the Spring and Fall Equinox and the Summer and Winter Solstices. The energy lasts for three days; the day before, the actual equinox or solstice day, and the day after. When we understand the transformational rebirth energy that bursts forth in spring, we can use it as a motivator to manifest great change in our lives.”

Daily Inspirational Message for March 17, 2014

“People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child – our own two eyes. All is a miracle.” – Thich Nhat Hahn For centuries, humankind has associated dying and “going to heaven” with getting closer to God, but what if we’re already as near to God as we’ll ever be? We don’t have to go anywhere or do anything to find God, for God is everywhere and in everything. We have simply to look for God in whatever is before us to experience the divinity of all that is.

Be Truly Inspired

Be inspired by life, and yet go beyond being merely inspired. Act on your inspirations. Let life stir your passion, and let that passion push you into action. Let the outstanding, meaningful ideas flow, then do something real and useful with them. Each time life makes a profound impression upon your heart, resolve anew to make a difference. Take the real goodness you see, and be the living instrument through which it is amplified and expanded. There is so very much that can inspire you, in the ordinary moments as well as in the extraordinary experiences. Consider each inspiration as a starting point from which you can do truly amazing things. There is a reason why you feel that warm, right and wonderful sense of inspiration. It resonates so well with you in order to give power and authentic purpose to your actions. Follow that purpose, and make the most of that power. Be truly inspired to act on your inspirations, and lift all of life to inspiring new heights. — Ralph Marst

Daily Inspirational Message for March 16, 2014

“If I create from the heart, nearly everything works; if from the head, almost nothing.” - Marc Chagall I recently had a “discussion” about hurt feelings with my husband that began well but soon degenerated because I wanted him to explain why he felt the way he did, and he just couldn’t do it. He said, “I don’t know why, I just do.” As I couldn't accept this answer, the conversation just got worse and worse. As I look back on it, I realize that if I had let go of intellectual understanding and simply tried to find compassion for his pain, we could have reconnected instead of moving farther apart energetically. Insisting on logic in the complex world of emotion is often like trying to drive a car through the ocean. Instead of taking us where we really want to go, we just end up cold, wet, and with more obstacles to reaching our true destination than we had before.

I'm Just Like You

Videographer Ellie Walton flew to Liberia to film a documentary highlighting the beauty and strengths of the children of the Hope for the Deaf School -- children who face immense discrimination and are often abandoned by their families. Coincidentally, she arrived in Monrovia on the same day as Hip Hop artist Chad Harper (aka Famus), whom she had met the month before in India. Chad had come to explore his roots. They connected with a local Hip Co artist Jonathan Koffa (aka Takun-J) and singers Trade and Angelo to create this beautiful music video in less than a week and a zero dollar budget. You can see the love and selfless spirit of this serendipitous team shine through in the smiles of the children, who co-wrote the song. "If you can talk with your hands, and listen with your eyes, then you will realize that I'm just like you all. I'm just like you."
