I was recently talking with a mother who had a very hard time with her son when he was in high school because all he cared about was rock music. When he quit school in the ninth grade, she had him arrested for truancy because she feared he was ruining his life, but he refused to go back. Instead, he began putting together rock concerts for the local community, and now he has an amazing job as an executive with a recording company, where he’s at least 15 years younger than his coworkers. He knew what he wanted to do, and he decided to stop wasting time and just do it! Just because we’re not successful in the mainstream doesn’t mean we’re failures. Some of us just have dreams and energy that are far too big to fit into a mold.
