Daily Inspirational Quote November 7 2014
“If I had a
formula for bypassing trouble, I wouldn’t pass it around. Wouldn’t be doing
anybody a favor. Trouble creates a capacity to handle it. I don’t say embrace
trouble. That’s as bad as treating it as an enemy. But I do say, meet it as a
friend, for you’ll see a lot of it and had better be on speaking terms with
it.” – Oliver Holmes, Jr., U.S. Supreme Court Justice
Everyone wants to be wise, but no one wants to be
troubled. If you think about it, “wisdom” is ultimately the ability to handle trouble
with skill, and like any other skill, it’s developed through practice. Wise
people are thus folks who have been blessed with a life rich with problems,
challenges, mistakes and upsets. We all must deal with trouble of one sort or
another throughout our lives; some of us are just lucky, as we’re given a bit
more than most.
