Motivational Music for Following Your Dreams and Goals

Music is truly food for the soul. Science Studies have shown that motivational music benefits our physical and mental health.

It can ease pain, soothe the spirit, and elevate one’s mood. Motivational music can also reduce stress and anxiety, reduce symptoms of depression, and improve cognitive performance.

Music is uplifting and can also help us stay focused and keep us inspired and motivated on our journeys towards our dreams. Some music is more motivational than others. These five songs are some of my favorites to help inspire you to reach your goals and never give up.

“One good thing about music is when it hits you, you feel no pain.” – Bob Marley

Motivational songs to reach and achieve your goals

1. Eye of the Tiger

If you haven’t heard this wonderful song by the American rock band Survivor, you have got to search for it on YouTube and listen to it NOW! Eye of the Tiger topped music charts worldwide in the early 80s. It was the very popular theme song for the movie Rocky III.

I love everything about this song! Its upbeat tempo and powerful hook energizes me. I feel so alive when I listen to it! It is definitely the kind of song you want to have on your playlist. Listen to it whenever you want to get into beast mode. Let it motivate you to do the impossible or push past obstacles and limiting beliefs.

This song always gets me thinking about the importance of focus during any undertaking. If you have ever watched an animal show, I am certain you have noticed how intensely a tiger gazes upon its prey after identifying it.

It not losing sight of the prey for even a second is remarkable. It quietly lurks in the shadows and intently follows its prey’s every move, as it awaits the right moment of capture.

And so it should be with our goals and dreams. We need to always be extremely solid in our intentions. This means being committed to taking the actions required to bring them to pass and never losing sight of them.

Instead, continue to keep our eyes on the prize until we have achieved the desired outcome.

2. Girl on Fire

American singer-songwriter; Alicia Keys really did it with this song. Her powerful vocal cords really shine through in this song, beautifully showcasing the lyrics. It makes them seem more pronounced in some sense.

I can never listen to this song at a low volume. It’s just the kind of song that needs to be played on full blast to allow the lyrics to permeate your soul and come alive within you.

Ohhhh oh oh oh oh

She got both feet on the ground

And she’s burning it down

Ohhhh oh oh oh oh

She got her head in the clouds

And she’s not backing down

This song was inspired by the birth of her son, Egypt and marriage to husband, Swiss Beat. However, I assign a totally different meaning to it. This song inspires me because it makes me feel unstoppable.

I feel I can conquer the world and do absolutely anything I put my mind to. It energizes me, fuels my drive and determination. The song makes me think of my goals and dreams as possible, even when they appear impossible. I always think about this song every time I feel like I am on a roll and making big strides in my goals.

3. When You Believe

This beautiful collaboration between American sensations, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey is an inspiration. They will have you believing in the possibility of your dreams and help keep your hope alive.

This song was originally recorded for the animated feature movie The Prince of Egypt. It won the Academy Award for Best Original song in 1999.

This is a song you need to listen to anytime you feel discouraged. Especially when you think your dreams are out of your reach or will never come to pass. This song will renew your faith like no other. It leaves you with the belief that the future holds something wonderful and will help you re-commit to your dreams. Parts of it might even bring you tears.

Who knows what miracles

You can achieve

When you believe somehow, you will

You will when you believe

The lyrics to When You Believe really reinforce the role our mindset plays in influencing and determining our success. Belief is integral in making anything happen. It can’t be said enough; change your mindset, change your life!

4. Can’t Take That Away

This Mariah Carey song was inspired by all the kids who teased her and made her feel like she wasn’t good enough during her Junior High School days. This is a great song that will help keep you stay encouraged.

It will allow you to keep your head up anytime you encounter a hater. If you haven’t encountered one already on your journey towards your goals and dreams; you will. No matter who you are or what you do, they are out there. Trust the fact that not everyone will applaud your efforts, support your dreams, or celebrate your successes.

People are often threatened by those around them. Especially those who appear to differ from them, have the things they desire or cause them to reflect on their own lives. So, instead of facing their own insecurities and inadequacies, they take satisfaction in bringing others down.

Haters belittle others by downplaying their successes or pointing out their shortcomings and flaws to elevate themselves. A hater will feel better about who they are when they take someone else down a notch.

This song will remind you that your haters aren’t worth your attention. Remember, no matter what they do or say, they can’t change who you are, take away your dreams or stand in the way of living out your destiny.

They can say anything they want to say

Try to bring me down

But I will not allow anyone to succeed

Hanging clouds over me

And they can try hard to make me feel

That I don’t matter at all

But I refuse to falter in what I believe

Or lose faith in my dreams

Today, make a vow to yourself to ignore all the naysayers and people who try to bring you down. Regardless of whether they tell you that you will never amount to anything, dissuade you from following your dreams, or project their negative and limiting beliefs on you. Silence them by staying true to yourself and your dreams and proving them wrong in the end.

5. Fight Song

This 2014 song should be everyone’s personal anthem! Rachel Platten’s lyrics remind us that getting the things we want is not always easy. Sometimes, it is an all-out war. This song illustrates how even small things can have a large impact.

For example, the line “I might only have one match, but I can make an explosion,” is the perfect line to show you how powerful you are! There is a lot of fight in you still, even when you feel your strength waning.

Turn the sound up and let these words fill you up with inspiration:

This is my fight song

Take back my life song

Prove I’m alright song
