What Was it Like to Live with Australia’s Strangest Ancient Creatures?
From giant one-toed kangaroos to marsupial hyper-carnivores, the first people to
live in Australia encountered some WILD animals. Luckily, we can see what they
saw in the ancient art they left behind! Here’s what we’ve found.
What was it like to walk among wooly mammoths? How do we know what long-extinct animals look like? Were there giant kangaroos that walked around the ancient Australian landscape? Fossils are very often our only way of guessing the answer to these questions, but in some rare instances, the ancient people who lived alongside the long-extinct fantastical creatures left us clues, carved in stone, that make the long-forgotten past, very real.
