Daily Inspirational Quote August 29 2014

“We wait all these years to find someone who understands us, I thought,
someone who accepts us as we are, someone with a wizard’s power
to melt stone to sunlight, who can bring us happiness
in spite of trials, who can face our dragons in the night,
who can transform us into the soul we choose to be.
Just yesterday I found that magical someone is the face we see in the mirror:
it’s us and our homemade masks.”
- Richard Bach

Both in my private psychic reading practice and the advice columns here at Kajama, I receive more questions about “soul mates” than any other topic. I believe that as religion has lost its power and influence in our lives, the cult of romance has taken up the slack. Our existential hunger for something more is no longer channeled into prayer or other spiritual practices; instead, we’re obsessed with finding fulfillment through “true love.” Unfortunately, nothing outside ourselves will emotionally sustain us indefinitely. Relationships are so full of heartache and addictions lead to so much misery because we’re looking for lasting fulfillment in a temporary source. I believe that in many ways, our fascination with “soul mates” is at a deep level a longing to rediscover our own divine selves.
